Atiku Gets Court Nod to Serve Tinubu in Eligibility Suit

A Federal High Court in Abuja has granted former Vice President Atiku Abubakar permission to serve court documents on President Bola Tinubu through the All Progressives Congress (APC). Justice Inyang Ekwo granted the application on Wednesday after Atiku's lawyers sought an order for substituted service on the President. The suit, filed by Atiku and the African Democratic Congress (ADC), seeks to disqualify Tinubu and the APC from participating in the 2027 presidential election. The plaintiffs' case includes an allegation concerning an allegedly forged NYSC discharge certificate submitted to INEC. These are allegations before the court, not established findings. The case is numbered FHC/ABJ/CS/1888/2026, with Tinubu, APC and INEC listed as the first, second and third defendants respectively. What the ruling means The immediate development is that Atiku has received judicial permission to serve the court processes on Tinubu through the APC. It does not mean the court has ruled that Tinubu is ineligible or that he has been disqualified from the 2027 election.
