Fayose Claims Five APC Governors Are Secretly Supporting NDC Ahead of 2027

Isaac Fayose, younger brother of former Ekiti State governor Ayo Fayose, has claimed that five governors elected on the All Progressives Congress (APC) platform are secretly supporting the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) ahead of the 2027 general elections. According to Fayose, the governors are not expected to publicly campaign for the NDC because they remain members of the APC. He alleged, however, that they had privately pledged financial support for the opposition party's electoral operations in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and Rivers State. Fayose also claimed that the governors were opposed to the political influence of FCT Minister Nyesom Wike in the two areas. He alleged that the governors had offered ₦200,000 per polling unit to NDC polling agents in Rivers State and the FCT, purportedly to help protect the party's votes against alleged electoral manipulation. These claims have not been independently verified, and Fayose did not publicly identify the five governors in the report. The allegations come amid increasing political realignments ahead of the 2027 elections.
