JUST IN: Air Peace Confirms Abuja Flight Disruptions Over Jet A1 Fuel Shortage

Nigeria’s largest airline, Air Peace, has attributed recent disruptions to its operations at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, to the initial unavailability of Jet A1 aviation fuel.

According to the airline, the fuel shortage affected not only Air Peace but also other airlines operating from the airport. Operations resumed after aviation fuel became available.

However, the airline said its Abuja–Maiduguri flight was subsequently unable to operate as scheduled because prevailing Visual Flight Rules (VFR) conditions and sunset restrictions prevented the flight from continuing after the permitted operating period.

Air Peace said affected passengers were kept informed and provided with refreshments. Passengers affected by the eventual Abuja–Maiduguri cancellation were offered hotel accommodation, with arrangements made for the flight to operate the following day.

The latest disruption comes against a wider backdrop of aviation-fuel supply challenges that have affected Nigerian airlines during 2026. Air Peace had previously reported Jet A1 supply constraints affecting its operations and temporarily reduced its Abuja–London frequency earlier in the year.
