Rose Idibia, mother of Nigerian music legend 2Baba, has reflected on her son’s journey in the Nigerian music industry.

According to Rose, the family had recognised 2Baba’s passion and talent for music from an early age and expected that he would eventually pursue a career as a musician. 

However, she said they could not have anticipated the enormous level of success and influence he would eventually achieve.

2Baba, formerly known as 2Face Idibia, rose to prominence as a member of the music group Plantashun Boiz before launching a successful solo career.

His 2004 debut solo album, Face 2 Face, and the hit song “African Queen” helped establish him as one of Nigeria's internationally recognised recording artists.

Rose's comments highlight the difference between recognising a child's talent early and knowing just how far that talent will eventually take them.
