Olu Jacobs’ Son Soji and Estranged Wife’s Pose at Tribute Night Sparks Reactions

A photograph showing late Nollywood legend Olu Jacobs’ son, Olusoji “Soji” Jacobs, alongside his estranged wife, Blessing Douglas, has sparked reactions on social media following the veteran actor’s Night of Tributes in Lagos.
The tribute ceremony, held on Wednesday, September 30, at Glover Memorial Hall, Lagos Island, brought together members of the Jacobs family, Nollywood stars, friends and colleagues to celebrate the life and legacy of the late actor, who died on September 16, 2026, at the age of 84.
Soji, who announced his father’s death, was among the family members present at the emotional event. His brother, Gbenga, and their mother, veteran actress Joke Silva, also attended the ceremony.
However, a family photograph involving Soji and his estranged wife, Blessing Douglas, attracted particular attention online.
In the photograph circulated on social media, Soji and Blessing were seen standing on opposite sides of their daughter, with a noticeable space separating the estranged couple.
The positioning quickly became a subject of discussion among social media users, with some interpreting the distance between them as evidence of lingering tension in their relationship.
Some commenters questioned why the pair appeared to maintain such a wide gap despite being photographed together as a family.
Others, however, focused on the occasion itself, noting that the gathering was primarily intended to honour Olu Jacobs and celebrate his legacy.
The reactions come shortly after Blessing publicly acknowledged Joke Silva’s 65th birthday despite reports of her estrangement from Soji.
On September 29, Blessing shared a throwback photograph with her mother-in-law and sent her warm birthday wishes, describing Silva as a woman whose life had touched many people.
At the Night of Tributes, Soji also delivered an emotional remembrance of his late father.
According to Premium Times, he described Olu Jacobs as a “magnetic” and genuine father whose public stature never overshadowed his role within the family.

Soji recalled how his father deliberately protected the privacy of his children and allowed them to choose their own paths rather than forcing them into the spotlight.
His brother Gbenga similarly paid tribute to their father, describing him as a giant of the entertainment industry while recalling the personal bond they shared.
The evening featured performances, Bible readings and tributes from prominent figures in Nigeria's entertainment industry, including Richard Mofe-Damijo, Sola Sobowale, Funke Akindele, Hilda Dokubo, Kate Henshaw and others.
Olu Jacobs, widely known as the “Lion of Lufodo,” had a career spanning more than five decades across theatre, television and film. He trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London before becoming one of Nigeria's most respected actors.
His funeral service is scheduled for Friday, October 2, 2026, at This Present House, Freedom Way, Lekki Phase 1, Lagos, followed by a private burial.
As the Jacobs family continues to mourn the veteran actor, the photograph of Soji and Blessing has become one of the latest moments from the funeral proceedings to attract widespread social-media attention.
