Rick Ross Denies Domestic Violence Allegations, Says Claims Against Him Were ‘Fabricated’

American rapper Rick Ross has denied allegations of domestic violence against him, describing the accusations as “fabricated” after he was arrested in Miami Beach, Florida, on battery-related charges.
The rapper, whose real name is William Leonard Roberts II, surrendered to Miami Beach police on Thursday, October 1, 2026, following allegations arising from an incident reported to authorities in August.
Ross was subsequently booked at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Centre and faced a felony charge of battery by strangulation and a misdemeanour battery charge. He pleaded not guilty through his lawyer during his court appearance.

After being released on a $5,000 bond, Ross spoke briefly to reporters outside the jail and rejected the allegations against him.
“I am totally innocent of these fabricated allegations made against me,” the rapper said.
He repeated his denial, saying he was confident that the allegations would eventually be resolved in his favour. ABC News and other outlets reported the comments following his release.
Ross's legal team has also maintained that he was wrongfully accused.
In a statement, his attorneys Bradley Horenstein and Steve Sadow said an ex-girlfriend was responsible for the allegations and questioned the timing of the police report.
The lawyers said the woman did not report the alleged incident until approximately a month after it was said to have occurred. They nevertheless urged the public not to prejudge the case and said Ross had pleaded not guilty.
What police say happened
According to the arrest affidavit, police began investigating after a woman reported an alleged domestic violence incident on September 29.
The alleged incident reportedly occurred on August 28 at Ross's residence on Star Island in Miami Beach.
The woman told investigators that she and Ross had been in a relationship for about a year and were living together at the time.
According to the account contained in the police affidavit, an argument began after Ross became angry about an Instagram photograph in which the woman had been tagged.
She alleged that Ross slapped her and later restricted her breathing by twisting the collar of her hoodie.
She also told investigators that he grabbed her ponytail and slammed her against a wall before striking her again.
Police said the woman provided photographs documenting injuries as part of the investigation.
The allegations have not been established as facts in court, and Ross is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
Judge imposes conditions after hearing.ng
Ross appeared before Miami-Dade Circuit Court Judge Mindy S. Glazer following his arrest.
His attorney entered a not-guilty plea on his behalf.
The judge set bond at $5,000 and ordered Ross to stay away from the woman involved in the case. Reports also indicate that conditions were imposed as the legal proceedings continue.
Ross was subsequently released from custody.
His arraignment is scheduled for October 22, 2026, according to Pitchfork's report on the case.
Defence challenges allegations
Ross's attorneys have strongly rejected the accusations.
They described their client as being “wrongfully accused” and said the circumstances surrounding the allegations should be examined through the legal process.
The defence has also pointed to the delay between the alleged August incident and the September 29 police report.
However, the existence of a delay in reporting an alleged incident does not by itself establish whether the underlying allegations are true or false.
The case remains pending, meaning the allegations and Ross's denial have yet to be resolved through the court process.
Public attention surrounding the case
The arrest has attracted considerable attention because of Ross's international profile as one of America's prominent rappers.
The 50-year-old artist rose to prominence following the release of his 2006 debut album Port of Miami and later founded Maybach Music Group.
He has also received multiple Grammy nominations during his career.
The current case has generated renewed discussion around allegations involving the rapper, although previous incidents should not be treated as evidence that the current allegations are true.
For now, the legal proceedings will determine the facts relevant to the charges.
Ross maintains that he is innocent and has described the accusations as fabricated, while police records outline allegations made by a woman who reported the incident.
The case is expected to continue with Ross's scheduled October 22 arraignment.
Until the matter is resolved, the allegations remain allegations, and Ross's denial remains his stated position in the case.
