Phone Payment Dispute Allegedly Turns Fatal as Delta PalmPay Agent Dies After Confrontation

A dispute linked to a phone purchased through a payment plan has reportedly claimed the life of Justin Azubuike Ewofobe, a Delta State-based PalmPay agent widely known as “Biggie.”
Biggie was said to operate across Obiaruku, Abraka and Warri. A graduate of Delta State University, Abraka, he was also a husband and father to a [10]-year-old daughter.
How the Dispute Began
According to accounts shared by his family and associates, the incident stemmed from a phone-financing arrangement involving a customer identified as Moses Okitikpi.
The customer allegedly obtained a phone valued at [₦185{,}000] through Biggie’s business. He was said to have paid an initial [₦30{,}000], with an agreement to continue payments of [₦11{,}000] weekly.
The family claims that after several missed payments, the device was restricted in line with the financing terms. They said the customer later demanded that it be unlocked immediately.
Alleged Confrontation
The situation reportedly came to a head on the evening of September [10], [2026], at about [8{:}30] p.m.
Biggie was reportedly travelling with his wife and daughter when he was approached by Moses Okitikpi and another man, Onome Okitikpi, who was described as the guarantor for the purchase.
According to the family’s account, Biggie explained that he could not personally unlock the phone on the spot and that the process would take time. The discussion allegedly became heated.
His relatives claim that his phone and other personal belongings were taken during the confrontation. When he reportedly tried to recover his phone, he was pushed, fell onto the tarred road and struck his head.
Hospitalisation and Death
The fall allegedly left Biggie with a severe head injury. He later fell into a coma, and doctors reportedly recommended urgent surgery estimated at around [₦10] million.
Tragically, Biggie died on September [13], [2026], three days after the reported incident.
For his family, friends and associates, the loss is devastating: a man who was working to support his household is gone, leaving behind his wife and young child.
Call for Investigation
The family says the matter was reported at the Abraka Police Station on September [11]. They are calling on the Nigeria Police Force and the Delta State Police Command to conduct a thorough, transparent investigation into the circumstances of his death.
Relatives and associates have also raised questions about whether the persons named in the complaint have been arrested and whether the case is receiving the necessary attention.
As of the time of writing, there was no publicly available statement from the Delta State Police Command independently confirming any arrests or providing an update on the investigation.
A disagreement over phone repayments should never end in the loss of a life. The family is demanding justice for Justin Azubuike Ewofobe and asking that anyone found legally responsible be held accountable.
