Roma target Endrick for January loan amid limited Real Madrid minutes

AS Roma are reportedly considering a renewed move for Real Madrid forward Endrick when the January transfer window opens, as the Brazilian youngster continues to struggle for regular first-team opportunities in Spain.
According to Il Corriere dello Sport, Roma sporting director Tony D’Amico remains interested in the 20-year-old, having previously explored a deal during the summer transfer window.
Roma’s interest has reportedly intensified because of Endrick’s limited involvement at Real Madrid, where he has made just one appearance this season.
Endrick’s limited role at Madrid
Endrick has reportedly played only four minutes of football for Real Madrid this season, appearing as a substitute in the club’s 3–2 away win over Elche.
The lack of minutes has raised fresh questions over his immediate future, particularly as the Brazilian forward seeks consistent playing time at a crucial stage of his development.
A loan move is not unfamiliar territory for Endrick. During the 2025–26 season, Real Madrid sent him to Olympique Lyonnais, where he reportedly enjoyed a productive spell. He scored eight goals and registered eight assists in 21 appearances, demonstrating the benefit of regular game time.
Roma previously explored a deal
Roma’s interest in Endrick is not new. Reports suggest that the Serie A side came close to agreeing a loan move for the Brazilian during the summer.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Roma had made progress in negotiations before the proposed transfer collapsed. Real Madrid coach José Mourinho reportedly intervened and convinced Endrick to remain at the Santiago Bernabéu to compete for a place in the squad.
However, that decision has not yet resulted in meaningful playing time for the Brazilian, who reportedly returned from injury but has still featured for only four minutes this season.
January loan could be reconsidered
If Endrick’s situation remains unchanged in the coming months, Roma could reopen talks with Real Madrid over a possible January loan.
The Italian club reportedly believes Endrick would suit Gian Piero Gasperini’s attacking system because of his pace, movement, and ability to exploit space behind opposition defences. A temporary move could give the youngster a clearer pathway to regular football while allowing Real Madrid to retain control of his longer-term future.
There is currently no formal agreement between Roma and Real Madrid, and the Spanish club has not announced plans to allow Endrick to leave in January.
Regular football remains key
A further loan move would likely depend heavily on Endrick’s need for consistent matches. His previous spell at Lyon was reportedly driven by his desire to play regularly and strengthen his chances of remaining in contention for Brazil’s 2026 World Cup plans.
Brazil coach Carlo Ancelotti has also stressed the importance of competitive minutes for young players.
“Without playing, they cannot progress,” Ancelotti reportedly said while discussing Endrick and other emerging Brazilian talents.
Roma are understood to view the situation as an opportunity to sign a highly rated young forward without immediately committing to a permanent transfer. Other European clubs are also believed to be monitoring developments.
Champions League meeting may open talks
Real Madrid are scheduled to face Roma in the Champions League on October 14, 2026. The fixture could provide a timely opportunity for the clubs to discuss Endrick’s situation before the January window.
For now, Endrick remains a Real Madrid player, and no January deal has been confirmed. But if his playing time does not improve, Roma could emerge as one of the leading destinations for the Brazilian forward.
