Rema Recalls Humble Moment with Dangote: “We Shared a Plate”

Rema recalls humble meeting with Aliko Dangote, says billionaire didn’t “make him feel poor”
Nigerian singer Rema has described a surprisingly low-key encounter with billionaire businessman Aliko Dangote, saying the meeting felt normal rather than ostentatious.
Speaking on the UK street interview podcast Rich Tea, hosted by presenter Rambo, Rema was asked whether he had ever met someone who made him feel poor. He replied that after meeting Dangote , who has an estimated net worth of $51.3 billion , he did not feel that way. Rema recalled sharing a meal from the same plate with the billionaire and said there were no overt displays of wealth such as flashy watches. He described Dangote as humble, smart and wise.
The modest impression left by Dangote is consistent with other public anecdotes about the billionaire’s lifestyle. Dangote has publicly said he sold properties in the United States and the United Kingdom to focus on work in Nigeria, noting that holiday homes added worries while staying in hotels made life simpler. Music star Davido has also shared that Dangote encouraged him to save his money and once noted that the billionaire continued to drive a 2005 G‑Wagon despite his vast wealth.
Observers say Dangote appears to treat wealth as a practical tool rather than something to be constantly showcased able to buy the expensive, but selective about what is worth buying, and avoiding the burdens that come with excess possessions.
