Yilwatda Claims Nigerians Are United Behind Tinubu as APC Begins 2027 Presidential Campaign

The APC chairman cites economic reforms, infrastructure projects and political realignments as evidence of growing support for Tinubu’s second-term bid.
ABUJA, Nigeria | October 25, 2026
The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, has declared that Nigerians are united in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid, as the ruling party begins its campaign activities ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Yilwatda made the declaration on Saturday, October 24, during the flag-off of the APC presidential campaign in Kaduna State. He said the administration’s leadership, ongoing economic reforms and development projects had strengthened public confidence in the President.
Addressing supporters at the campaign event, the APC chairman expressed confidence in the party’s readiness for the forthcoming election, describing Tinubu as a leader willing to make difficult decisions in what he characterized as the national interest.
He also pointed to the participation of women and young people at the rally as evidence of public enthusiasm for the President’s leadership.
According to Yilwatda, the APC intends to campaign on the administration’s record, its ongoing reforms and its plans for Nigeria’s future.
APC Points to Economic Reforms and Infrastructure
The APC chairman argued that the Tinubu administration should be assessed not only by the economic difficulties facing Nigerians but also by its efforts to address longstanding structural challenges.
He maintained that the government had demonstrated a willingness to confront difficult economic realities, expand infrastructure development and establish conditions for sustainable economic growth.
Yilwatda said the administration’s next phase would focus on consolidating existing initiatives and translating its Renewed Hope agenda into improved livelihoods, greater opportunities and shared prosperity.
However, the practical impact of these policies on household incomes, employment, living costs and access to essential services remains central to the broader public debate about the administration’s performance.
The APC’s campaign will therefore have to demonstrate how its policies are delivering measurable improvements in the daily lives of Nigerians.
Political Realignments Feature in APC's Campaign Strategy
Yilwatda also cited political realignments involving the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and the Accord Party as indications of what he described as growing support for Tinubu.
He maintained that the APC was united and prepared to mobilize supporters across the country.
The chairman also presented party flags to seven governors in the North-West geopolitical zone who are seeking re-election, urging them to strengthen grassroots engagement, maintain party unity and mobilize support for Tinubu and other APC candidates.
The region remains strategically important to the party’s campaign organization.
Nevertheless, political endorsements, alliances and statements by party leaders do not necessarily establish the voting intentions of the wider electorate. The extent to which such arrangements translate into votes will depend on voter participation, campaign performance and the choices Nigerians make at the ballot box.
Public Expectations Remain a Key Election Issue
Although Yilwatda expressed confidence in the President’s growing support, the 2027 election will take place against continuing public debate over the economy, insecurity, employment, infrastructure and the cost of living.
For many voters, the central question will be whether the administration’s reforms have produced tangible benefits and whether its future commitments adequately address the difficulties facing households and businesses.
The ruling party will need to communicate its achievements and explain its plans, while opposition parties will have opportunities to present alternative policies and challenge the government’s record.
The election will ultimately provide Nigerians with an opportunity to assess the competing claims and decide which candidates and policy proposals best reflect their expectations.
What Lies Ahead for the APC?
The Kaduna campaign launch marks an important step in the APC’s effort to organize its supporters and build momentum ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Yilwatda has called for coordinated mobilization, effective communication of government policies and issue-based campaigning. He has also urged party members and elected officials to work collectively towards the party’s electoral objectives.
Whether the APC can convert its organizational strength and political endorsements into broad electoral support remains to be determined through the democratic process.
For now, the chairman’s declaration that Nigerians are speaking with one voice for Tinubu represents the ruling party’s assessment of its political standing—not an independently established consensus among all Nigerian voters.
Factful24 Takeaway: The APC is entering the 2027 campaign with a message centered on economic reforms, infrastructure and continuity. The critical test will be whether the party can substantiate its claims with measurable results and persuade voters that its plans address their most pressing concerns.
