Security | October 28, 2026

Suspected kidnappers have abducted six residents from Nuru Suraj Estate in Millennium City, Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State, in another overnight attack that has renewed concerns over residents’ safety.

According to Leadership Newspaper, the attackers reportedly entered the estate through a second gate in the early hours of Tuesday, triggering panic among residents.

Military personnel reportedly pursued the assailants, leading to the rescue of some victims. However, the number of people rescued and the whereabouts of those who remained missing had not been established when the report was published.

Details of the Attack

A resident identified as Maman Hamid, who lives near the affected houses, said the incident caused fear throughout the estate. Reports from the area indicate that the kidnappers escaped after the security intervention.

A separate report by Legit.ng stated that the attackers initially took eight people from two neighboring houses but released two elderly women, leaving six people in captivity. Those reportedly still missing included two teenage schoolboys and a family of four.

The latest incident adds to a series of reported kidnappings in Millennium City and surrounding communities on the outskirts of Kaduna metropolis.

Previous Attacks Raise Security Concerns

On October 6, suspected kidnappers abducted Ahmed Abubakar Zakka, his wife and their six-month-old daughter from Alrahus Estate, also in Millennium City. The family was subsequently rescued, according to earlier media reports.

The latest abduction also comes after police reportedly announced the arrest of eight suspected kidnappers and four alleged informants during security operations around Millennium City and Maraban Rido on October 12. Authorities reportedly recovered AK-47 rifles during the operations.

As of the time of Leadership's report, the Kaduna State Police Command and the state Ministry for Internal Security and Home Affairs had not issued public statements on the latest incident.

The repeated attacks have intensified calls for stronger security measures, improved protection of residential estates and the safe recovery of people held by kidnappers.

Note:

The latest incident highlights continuing concerns about the safety of communities around Kaduna metropolis. The immediate priorities are the safe return of anyone still in captivity, transparent updates from security agencies and effective measures to prevent further attacks.
